About the Maker

Broussard Woodworks was founded in 2023 by Simon Broussard, a custom woodworker based in Lafayette, Louisiana. His work focuses mainly on creating thoughtful, well-crafted furniture and built-ins designed to last.

Simon’s interest in woodworking began early-on building backyard skate ramps - where the ability to design something by hand, build it, and use it sparked a lifelong passion for making. That hands-on curiosity carried into college, where he studied Industrial Design, learning the design process and how to identify everyday problems and solve them through thoughtful, functional products. While Industrial Design often spans the use of many materials, wood consistently remained central to his work.

After graduating, Simon spent four years working in a custom cabinet shop in Lafayette, developing a strong foundation in fine cabinetry and shop practice. He then spent another four years in Chicago as an exhibit fabricator for a renowned museum, where precision, durability and creativity were critical to every build.

Following the pandemic of 2020, Simon returned to Lafayette and completed his Master of Business Administration, bringing together design, craftsmanship, and sound business practice. Broussard Woodworks was established shortly after.

Today, Broussard Woodworks sits at the intersection of industrial design thinking, fine cabinetmaking, and museum-quality fabrication while remaining focused on creating lasting, functional, and meaningful pieces for clients who value craftsmanship and intention.
